Hey 🙂

Since 1h, i'm facing a weird problem : My laptop refuse to connect to the 5Ghz wifi. The 2.4 works. I'm a beginner, and i can't find easy step to diagnose and maybe reset my driver...My phone connect on it (5Ghz), and my wife's laptop connect on it.

I think it's not my wifi card because i can connect on the 2.4 band.

  • Problem solved! In fact, it was my router that blocked my laptop. I tried the WLAN, only restarting the router worked... So, I should have tested that before posting.... :

Franjus80 To make this easier for troubleshooting can you also let us know what version of Solus you are using (Plasma, Budgie etc). Also the make and model of computer might help.
WiFi connectivity problems can be a real problem to track down. Let's start with what you were doing prior to 5ghz stopping working. Had you run an update? Installed some new software or updated the BIOS? Or something else, restarted after a lockup maybe?
Finally, how long had Solus been running with 5ghz working ok?

BuzzPCSOS Ok 🙂 I'm on Lenovo Legion y540, last Solus 4.5 Budgie release. This morning, all runs fine, start a download (on 5GHz band), on steam, then suddenly i lost my connection and the laptop directly connect to 2.4Ghz band.

All other hardware connect to the 5Ghz band without problems. No update or specific command. (Just intel-undervolt and cpupower commands, like every days). When i test an iso image (booting from external hard drive), i can't connect to 5GHz ; Tried Solus plasma, CachyOS and Bazzite.

Franjus80 that kind of sounds like a hardware thing. Try running solus from your install media and see if 5ghz works then. Fail at that point strongly indicates hardware failure.

Franjus80 Glad you have it all working again.
It's so funny how turning it off and back on again fixes so many things 😄
