Newbie fresh install. Software center not starting.

After fighting with win11 EFI partition for 3 days i finally got Solus installed. I opened software center once and installed Vivaldi(works fine) since then clicking icon just makes it blink for a bit and nothing else. I wish to install gimp and darktable next.

Try launch it from the terminal

solus-sc

It might tell what's going on.

ruili Did you update first, after your Solus installation? First thing to do.

If you haven't updated then open Terminal and run
sudo eopkg up
Enter your password as requested.
After update is complete exit Terminal and reboot.
Things should work better then.

Does that mean there is no auto update? I got notices and thought it was taking care of itself like windows does whether i like it or not

No, Solus doesn't automatically install updates. Only when you tell it to.

ok that worked. while SC wasnt working I noticed my icon down lower left looked like a foot. is that indicative of something? after update its back to being 9 dots.
