I don't think this is supposed to happen. I don't know if this is the problem with Libreoffice or the applet.

Fatih19 You mean the menu being cropped? You can actually scroll to the left or right.

Probably a bug with the applet itself (which we don't develop).

Fatih19 No. We just package it. There is no official global menu applet for Budgie.

Oh, I hope you guys make one in the future. Because, it's really cool and convenient. Budgie 11 maybe? nudge

Yea no, no plans on supporting global menus. They are incredibly inconvenient and non-obvious on multi-monitor setups.

JoshStrobl But if someone out of the blue decided to develop and support one, would that be okay? Like the recent caffeine applet.

Yes, it does suck with multi-monitor. But, according to this thread most people doesn't use multi-monitor setup. Most of them use laptops, which benefits from global menu since it saves spaces.
I'm not trying to pressure the team to make this happen, I'm just saying that there is more benefit than you may have thought.

Fatih19 I don't think it saves as much space as you think. With a Global Menu you end up having to add a second panel just to save enough screen space for a tray and the menu itself. That eats up the same amount of space as having a single panel and two side-by-side windows with normal menus. It also doesn't save you any space for apps that use Header Bars since they don't magically get turned off and made accessible through the global menu. Considering that Budgie ships with GTK apps like Evince and gedit that use Header Bars, we don't really gain much with a global menu.

Believe it or not, I have 3 monitors, but I actually really like global menus. That said, I'm also a weirdo and I can see why others wouldn't care for it. Plus, @Fatih19 in the end it's the developers vision. If they don't like global menus then it would be silly of us expect them to include it in their DE. If global menus are a make it or break it for you you could always try out the Plasma testing iso (like me). We get a global menu plasmoid we can use.

Long story short, you have to report the bug to the applet developer to get support on this issue.

Max_The_Bear I have never tried KDE but if it does have good global menu support, I'll definitely check it out when it's already stable. It's just one of those "cherry on top" that is cool to have.
