If you run sudo eopkg up again, does it then succeed?

I am currently afraid to update any of my other machines at this point.

To avoid having to go into boot recovery, please try downloading and manually installing the statically-compiled Python 3 version of eopkg, and finishing the update with that:

Note that this just downloads and extracts the files to your current directory; it isn't actually installing as a system package.

EbonJaeger ok that worked to finish the update with no errors. I rebooted. I re-ran sudo eopkg ur && sudo eopkg up -y just to see if eopkg was working again and I got the following:

System error. Program terminated.
unsupported pickle protocol: 4

I'm doing an eopkg check now.

Not gonna call this solved yet; in testing, it may not actually work. The team is still investigating, but it's worth trying.

EbonJaeger It found one broken package, cups-browsed. I cannot reinstall it, i get the same unsupported pickle error.

Please provide support for my pickle kind sir. 🙂

zmaint run sudo eopkg update-repo --force to regenerate the pickle cache

The pickle cache version is different from py2 to py3 versions

edit: note that as repos is currently blocked it won't work until the repo is re-enabled.

Lucien_Lachance If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all lol. In all seriousness, I've been on Solus Plasma since beta and this is the first actual Solus issue I've had. I'll gladly take that any day of the week over what I had to endure on other flavors that shall remain nameless.

Also it cannot be overstated how awesome everyone here is in helping, and how fast things get done. The last issue I had was with an AMD kernel patch failing to get passed to the next AMD kernel version. The Solus team steered me to the AMD maintainer, I filed a bug, he fixed it an apologized in like 20min. I updated my post here and then the Solus crew put out a patch within the hour to fix it. Top shelf service.

joebonrichie If it helps, the laptop I just updated I don't use frequently and it missed getting last weeks update. Could it be there was something in last weeks that this weeks depended on being installed already?

I've not attempted to update anything else.

I will say normally that's not an issue. I took a PC I built out of spare parts about 14 months ago, set it up for my wife to use for her Ebay machine, did updates and it was fine. That's not the first time I've pulled things out of storage and had Solus just work🙂 I know it's not best practice, but I've had pretty good luck doing it!
