KDE 6 and Fingerprint support in Solus

Hey all, do we, or can we have, support for using fingerprint readers to unlock (or sudo) a machine in KDE 6?

I have a Framework 16 which has a fingerprint reader built in and it works under Fedora Kinoite. I'd love to be able to use it in Solus KDE, too!

I looked through old posts here on the forum and it doesn't look like there has been support for fingerprint readers in the past, so I thought I'd ask this question afresh.

A team member confirmed that they use it to login to Plasma and they believe it worked OOTB. Sadly I have no gear to test this with.

Justin: Yeah kscreenlocker it works for. Not sure about SDDM.

Thanks Harvey and TraceyC I realized that I didn't have fprintd installed on my system. After installing, logging out and back in, I was able to set up the fingerprint reader on the Framework 16 easily through the GUI.

The only thing I'm missing now is fingerprint authentication for sudo in the terminal.

Fingerprint authentication can be set up in the "Users" pane in System Settings. As long as your fingerprint reader is recognized, you will see a button "Configure Fingerprint Authentication". I have this working on my Dell XPS laptop.

As it says:

Fingerprints can be used in place of a password when unlocking the screen and providing administrator permissions to applications and command-line programs that request them.

Logging into the system with your fingerprint is not yet supported.

Bhibb can fingerprint be enabled on gnome or it's a plasma thing lol
