For window tiling, I wanted to mention here that the Mudeer plugin to do tiling on ultrawide monitors exists. They are working on Plasma6 compatibility, but it isn't ready yet.
For anyone interested in the full details of everything in the update to Plasma 6 upstream, check out the Plasma/Plasma6 page in the KDE community wiki.
In particular, here is the upstream list of removals. Check it out if you think something might be missing on your system.
Here are some issues we've seen so far on Plasma 6 in Solus (more can be found in the KDE wiki linked above):
- VS Code dialogs open behind the main window
- Bluetooth devices do not reconnect when waking from sleep or hibernation
- Touchpad says "No touchpad found" - caused when
xorg-driver-input-synaptics
is installed. Remove that package to fix. - Rotation does not work on all devices
- Sometimes if one bluetooth device is connected (like headphones), the system is unable to connect to or add another bluetooth device (like a keyboard)
- Display Settings behaving incorrectly if there are external monitors connected, and the refresh rate is set on one higher than Plasma can handle
- Not all SDDM themes work with Plasma 6. If you had a custom theme or install a new theme that does not support qt6, you can apply it but you will see the default SDDM theme on the login screen.
