There's a lot of hype on YouTube at the moment about everyone creating a so-called tier list. What really surprises me is that Solus is almost always in the middle of the field or performs very poorly. The 4 months where Solus was unavailable must have really left a trauma. How do you see it? Your opinion?

Cheers!

You are only as good as your last mishap. It is to be expected that people will have a negative view until it is no longer in recent memory and you have proven it will not occur again.

Those "tier lists" are entertaining, but only reflect one guys' opinion, and are therefore almost meaningless. I've seen Arch place at top spots, which is fine, I guess, but in my own "opinion", Arch users are like vegetarians, they're absolutely going to let you know that they use Arch, and I would not place it that high just because of that negative bias! 🙂

I'd put more faith in distrowatch than youtube because distrowatch, also subjective, requires you to evaluate a distro with criteria in mind.
That said, to what you speak with the 'last mishap' comment: Solus currently at 7.5. Solus before the Dark Mishap was consistently rated between 7.8 and 8.4 as I recall....which is par with all the 'big boys' in distro land._I would assume that number rises as more time passes. We are coming up to a year ago with that incident, though.

rothom It's a fair assessment when it comes to that aspect. The infrastructure outage was a stressful time for both team members and (especially) users. It takes a long time to regain trust after it has been lost. That being said the team is in a much better place now and there is infinitely more redundancy when it comes to loss of access, or people going radio-silent. So I can't even imagine anything even close to that outage happening anytime soon. Unless the whole team decides to board the same Boeing 737-MAX.

Harvey As someone who has spent 20 years in sales, this is absolutely correct. It's never what have you done for me me... but what have you done for me TODAY.

Thank you for your opinions and comments. I can't imagine working without Solus (anymore).

        Cheers!
