  • Zoom not starting after last week update

Bhibb still haven't done the rollback yet as I have the endeavour distro as a fallback, but only writing you to ask if you heard any chatter on the internets? Any upstream reports etc? or pinpoints on what fault is (mesa drivers)? have seen Zero/zip/zilch at solus devtracker...which worries me...only 3 zoom flatpak users on Solus have a problem launching zoom?

I guess this is a question to anyone who knows/heard news about the solus/zoom thing? thanks
edit: sp

Had a handful of .freedesktop file updates from the Flatpak folk so I launched Zoom again just now...
SUCCESS...this is solved for me then, but not my thread.
Looks like Flatpak got on it.

brent Glad it's all sorted! Seemed to be a pretty infrequent issue. Happy Zooming!

brent tried updates from last Friday and it did not work. The AppImage version works, been using it for now.

lf-araujo I meant flatpak updates (flatpak update -y in the terminal)--that's what cured me. Flatpak crews were on to the problem and fixed it. If I had to guess Solus had updated something crucial before the flatpak people which is common. that's why the flatpak didn't work. now it does after flatpak update.

If you are happy with the appimage that is also wonderful as long as its working. cheers.

brent yeah, I got it. I also meant the flatpak updates. Sorry wasn't clear.

lf-araujo so flatpak updates worked for me but not for you?

that's so weird and so linux and another big rabbit hole to go down, so we don't need to๐Ÿ™‚.

you got your solution and so do I so that's what matters.

[edit: but my flatpak updates were not from last friday as you mentioned, they were from yesterday.]

brent I dont understand what makes zoom so sensitive to things
            picks at my brain cells..lol

Awhile back just before your issues on a flatpak update I did a check and it said think was freedesktop was outdated ect ect but it didnt do anything about it.
And just before you did your update I did mine and update for that was applied.

So to me it more maybe how things are updated rather than the application having issues with it
that being said constant flatpak checks would prob be prudent.
Maybe a nice script or something in autorun that check every so many days or could be set to whatever a person wanted.
At the moment I dont have any flatpaks that have complained about things.

I think three main commands for flatpak would be update, repair, remove would fix about anything.
            Dunno just thinking

If Solus is transitioning to more flaypaks a nice Gui utility like this built into Solus would be nice and helpful
to users. Something simple and effective.
I just burnt more brain cells...lol

brent Busy day yesterday, will try updates from flatpak and report back.

Axios o to me it more maybe how things are updated rather than the application having issues with it

I think you are right, all of it. I have not even scratched the surface or explored all the flatpak CLI commands so I don't know the limits. See @Bhibb 's post above, he rigged it to regress a package! the wetgeek command I posted way up also has a 'remove/old/unused packages' built into it and once in a while it will rip stuff out which might be key, too.

Axios I dont understand what makes zoom so sensitive to things

mine too๐Ÿ™‚. there has go to be 1500 variables but the process of elimination is fun sometimes๐Ÿ™‚

@"lf-araujo"#p90283looking forward to you reporting back. maybe because the updates will be the thing that makes zoom upright again. and this can be solved.

and even if it's solved and fixed you might find yourself in love with the appimage...๐Ÿ™‚

Welp, it must be something in my end, latest flatpak updates did not fix the issue.

                lf-araujo bummer.
the only way you can clear you end is sudo eopkg check and be done with it. sorry to give you the bum steer.

lf-araujo If you run it from command line what errors does it have.

Axios flatpak run us.zoom.Zoom is a good idea. No output for me and it launched.
