Printers not detected, can't be configured

I found some people having issues after they installed the package from hp the printer worked.
So Dunno at this point

Axios we were thinking the same thing at the same time, though: if OP had the printer ipaddress they would have a functioning printer, likely.

@Gwen , what's the current status of your printers (printing working / scanning working)?
Did you get both printing and scanning working on the HP?
Did you get anything working on the Samsung?

TraceyC The HP printer works once hplip is installed. The Samsung M2070's scanner works, but the printer doesn't, it's not even recognized in the settings.

Just noticed there have been a lot of messages, I'm checking it out tomorrow, sorry!

fyi Brother printers same thing re other posts in the forum. I filed a bug report after seeing validation from other Brother printer owners.
I hope enough exploration of this topic is enough. It's a bug and I hope devs will dig into it.

Gwen Did you ever install the drivers? I know you said you were going to but a lot has happened since then.

BuzzPCSOS I did! As I said, when I installed it, it said "Échec du redémarrage de CUPS." (Failed to restart CUPS) and that's the main difference with when I installed it on Ubuntu-based distros and on Fedora.

That is really odd (I think it was a long time ago when I installed my Samsung printer) I think there might have been some message about cups after my install too but after a reboot and a search with the printer finder everything just worked.
Point of interest, have you tried just running the install_printer.sh script again - seeing as that is the bit that isn't working.

Axios It only sees the HP printer but not the Samsung one.

Gwen Cool thats what I wanted to know is the samsung installed? (I take it is)
And if it is does your lsusb still show it plugged in

Gwen Since we know the hp printer works I would uninstall it and unplug it from computer
Uninstall the samsung and unplug from computer.
Reboot and wait abit
plug the samsung back in to computer and run install (leave hp unplugged)
Then see if it is installed or if you have to manually add see if that works.

I know its more work but eliminates conflict between the two.

Gwen This morning I installed my Samsung printer onto a computer with a clean install of Solus Plasma 4.5 with all updates applied.
The printer installed without issue after I followed the following procedure.
Connect printer to PC and power on.
Unzip drivers file.
Open the new drivers folder in terminal.
sudo bash install.sh
Press enter to list through terms agreement
Type yes
Type y
Type N to skip firewall setup
Printer will install.
Go to Print Settings in main menu and install using detected printer and installed drivers.

When installing the printer there was an error message about Cups not restarting but this did not prevent the printer from working and printing a test page.
This test was carried out on a USB connected Samsung ML-2168 Printer.
The install instructions have been modified to work for your printer on any of the Solus flavors.

Axios from the point you described (one unplugged/one plugged) it would be a perfect time for your IP address map in add printer box, could not hurt.

I dont know if that software adds everything auto or have do it manual
If have do it manual I would put in the usb addy and should find it.

the true IP is always http://whatever here. in some models you don't enter the http:/
you had it in your picture above I believe: the 192 168 0 41

I've done this once when solus didn't recognize an old Brother--the manual method works. it's just Solus is calling Gwen's printer CupsPrinter because it's a generic printer --to Solus--and it can't see the samsung. so you have to map ip addy it to the cups, then POOF Solus will make it the Samsung or something with features (problem is last time we played with CUPS we lost the OS🙂)

brent I have to do that when I install my hp it wont find it on its own I have tried
till blue in face but if I enter the Ip of it poof I cant blink fast enuf it found and installed it.
Go figure.

If hoop jumping is involved, it's broken. No other distro I know of - not a one -requires hoop jumping for this task.
