Justin This can get quite messy switching desktops, just FYI. Remove MATE: sudo eopkg rm -c desktop.mate Install GNOME: sudo eopkg it -c desktop.gnome.core As always, backup files before making changes to your system.
JoshStrobl Justin That isn't entirely the instructions, although the documentation indeed only covers it from the perspective of installing it post-Budgie, not MATE. So further info at https://getsol.us/articles/software/desktop-environments/en/ for GDM, GNOME Shell, and recommended branding package. I'll see about fleshing out the doc with the other components that'll need to be installed (if coming from MATE or Plasma).
Fatih19 Alright, so after doing this, how do I boot into Gnome? Budgie is still installed, am I supposed to remove it too?
otavioschwanck Fatih19 install gdm and run: sudo systemctl disable lightdm sudo systemctl enable gdm and in login screen, click on little gear and switch to gnome
JoshStrobl Justin LightDM directly conflicts with GDM, so you need to disable it, install GDM (which will conflict with LightDM and uninstall it), and enable the systemd unit for gdm.
