  • Does anyone know where I can get the Emoji Selector?

I'm talking about this thing:

I 've been trying to find it, to add it to the menu in Solus 4.5 Xfce, but it seems to be unavailable anywhere. I can't find it in the repos, using any search I can think of. Yet, I use it on most of my other computers. I even use it on this one (my laptop) but can't find it anywhere here (except in the menu and on the dock).

That is plasma-emojier and its part of the plasma-desktop package. I would not recommend using it outside of Plasma due to this.

Ahh ... that explains why I have it on most of my machines. They're nearly all Plasma, except for some VMs. Do you know whether there's anything in the GNOME universe like it?

Unfortunately I am unaware of any other emoji selectors.

There is gnome-characters in repo. It integrates with search, if you enable it in settings on GNOME.

Yes! It seems not as polished as the KDE Emojie Selector, which is to be expected, but it certainly beats what flarum offers. Sadly, it doesn't have a Keep in Dock option in a context menu, for example, so there's no way to keep it there, but I can safely use it in GNOME-based DEs like the 4.5 Xfce that I'm using at the moment.

I would have preferred to keep it in the dock, but it can be added the desktop, or to the panel, or to Favorites in the menu, which is what I did (for now). So it's two mouse clicks away whenever I want it. And definitely a better option than Flarum provides. 🤗

I know there is a way to get a floating emoji selector widget on gtk applications, because I keep opening it by mistake in gedit.

I think the shortcut for it is Ctrl+.
This, however, does not work in a browser.

I believe Ctrl+Shift+e is supposed to be a shortcut for choosing an emoji native in ibus, but I never managed to make it work...
