In my opinion, Solus is currently the best distribution. The installation alone only takes a few minutes and then the system is supplied with all the essential software. Solus is stable and damn fast. It comes with comparatively few packages and has a low RAM consumption.
But what really makes Solus stand out for me is the great community and developers. If you have a problem, they usually come up with solutions within 24 hours.
I am a passionate Budgie user, I don't know how I ever worked with Linux before Budgie, great piece of software.
And anyway: Solus is developed from scratch, not based on Debian, Arch or Ubuntu, plus it's a rolling release distribution. I can't begin to imagine how much work and time goes into delivering the sync updates every Friday.
And even if not every program is available in its current version, I don't see that as a downside. Then we just wait.
And no matter which new distribution wants to conquer the market, Solus has its unique selling points. I have several computers and of course I like to try things out and install one distribution or another on bare metal. Then you play a little here and there and enjoy the many great themes and background images until you realize that the software is the same as Solus delivers. What's more, the more you play around with the new distribution, the more you realize that many things that Solus has and can do and what makes Solus special are not even there.
Yes, the grass is not always greener on the other side of the river.
Cheers!
