When I use unrar in the console I get the following error message:

unrar --help
Ungültiger Maschinenbefehl (Speicherabzug geschrieben)

unrar cannot be used

Unfortunately I can't install rar

I can confirm this happens for me too:

    Illegal instruction (core dumped)

Fortunately 7zip can also open rar files.

same problem, maybe they accidentally send a wrong package

Or maybe this is the first they're hearing about it and nobody has opened an issue for it yet so that it can be looked into?

gorzka You don't really need to install rar, you can download the binary from https://www.rarlab.com/download.htm, it's a gzipped tar package, you can place rar and unrar where ever you like; I like to keep rar in ~/.local/bin which is in my path.

I'm not sure I've ever used unrar, I just use rar e or rar x which does the same thing.

      zinger565 Thanks for reporting.

      Please install this version:
      sudo eopkg it https://packages.getsol.us/unstable/u/unrar/unrar-6.2.12-37-1-x86_64.eopkg

Not sure why v.7 have these issues. Building and testing it locally works fine.

algent If you just type unrar (by itself no filename) it throws that error.
        Illegal instruction (core dumped)

        dmesg

        Revised
