I had to use a modern win desktop after a long time away from it, and the thing that surprised me the most was how smooth scrolling through pages was.
This started happening after buying a logitech M650 mouse that requires software (options+) to operate. It hihacks the native scrolling of the OS for many apps including browsers. Once you experience this, it's hard to go back.
I asked logitech support if there's a linux version of options+, and as you can imagine, crickets.
Is there any way to achieve the same experience (even if only in FF) on linux?
I couldn't find a video that shows the effect on win11, but this one shows it on Apple, which is also really smooth:
I have a 144Hz display, which helps 🙂
I understand in linux this is called "high resolution scrolling". It seems for some people this just started working by itself after updates to the kernel and the libinput library. There's https://pwr-solaar.github.io/Solaar/that is packaged and seems to have an option for HID++ scrolling, whatever that is. But so far I didn't make it work.
Thanks. Linux user of >10yrs, in case that matters, Solus for 2yrs.
