  • Desktop session times out when watching a video if no other activity happening

I'm trying to figure out if a setting exist or a workaround to prevent the desktop from logging out only when watching a video with MPV or web browser. I currently running Solus 4.4 Gnome 44 spin.

I will be watching a video and I get up to go do something and come back after about 10 minutes the session well be logged out though I can still hear the audio playing. I have not experienced this issue with other Linux distributions I have tried recently.

    Hey there! It sounds like you need to edit your power/battery settings for the machine, if you don't want it to turn off after 10 minutes of inactivity (or turn off the display, or lock, or logout, etc.)

    Otherwise, there might be a setting somewhere else to have certain activities block the system from sleeping/locking/turning off the display. I'm sorry, I'm not aware of those settings, though.
