Hi all I am new to solus and Linux in general.
I've been trying to figure out if I can get my Linksys AE2500 wifi adapter to work and all I've been able to find is some instructions that are supposed to work for Ubuntu. Download the Windows XP driver, download something called ndiswrapper which is some kind of windows compatibility layer for wifi drivers for linux. install that and use it to install the Windows XP drivers.
The instructions for that software are not working on Solus. For one thing it says to extract the contents then use "make uninstall" then "make" then "make install"
Solus says the command make does not exist, so I found out how to search the package manager thing through the terminal and found the program "make" is not included with Solus, so I installed it.
Then I tried again and it said something about linux headers not containing something required, so I again searched and found some package called "current-linux-headers" so installed that and tried again but it was still giving me the same error.
So at that point I gave up and started searching for a better wifi dongle more easily compatible with Linux, but that's quite difficult to find as well.
The internet works on my machine in Linux but only through a sketchy ethernet-through-power adapters I've got plugged into the wall power outlet in the room with the modem and my room. It has a lot of latency and very slow speed so that's why I'm trying to get the wifi dongle to work.
I think this USB adapter uses a broadcom chipset but I'm not sure. How do I check? Any tips on finding a driver, or getting the previously mentioned method to work?
Thanks!
