Hi all. After Apple stopped releasing updates for my 2013 Macbook Pro, I have just installed Solus with Budgie. I have a pair of Samsung Galaxy Bud headphones which I have used with my Mac for years. I have paired them through Budgie, however I am getting a lot of audio distortion/tearing. It is the same noise as when bluetooth is just out of reach, however this is happening right in front of the machine, well within expected range. Sometimes the left and right buds go briefly back in sync and then it breaks up again. Obviously all of the hardware is the same as when previously working under MacOS.

I am pretty new to Budgie and Linux desktops in general so I would appreciate any help troubleshooting.

Many thanks.

Do other Linux distros have this issue? You should just be able to boot off a USB and pair it there to test.

peedrr I had some tearing, reverb, echoing issues when I paired my Airpod Pro. After about 30 seconds of playing some music it seemed to clear up a bit. I did a reboot and haven't had any problems since. Hopefully you can get yours cleared up as well.

Thanks for the responses. You were right, @diagnostics0, after a reboot the gremlins did magically disappear. FWIW, I also discovered that the sound menu in Budgie Control Center allows you to select which codec is being transmitted. While this might not have been the source of the issue I was facing, it would have been something worth checking if I had known it existed before, so maybe it will help someone in the future.

    Thanks again

peedrr LDAC and AptX are the best options if your hardware supports it. The next sync will bring Bluetooth LE Audio (LC3) support as well, but it's very unlikely that your hardware supports it as it's a very new standard.
