To elaborate, it's not exactly a matter of us making them compatible. It's a fundamental difference in the way the toolkits and libraries work and interact, and in ways they might overlap. These are concerns of upstream GTK and Qt/KDE Plasma. It would be great if they could play nice together, but as it stands now, there are just cases where they don't, and that's the sad world we live in.
