This worked for me, with a GeForce GT 635M
First make sure you are using LTS kernel, sudo clr-boot-manager list-kernels
If no LTS is listed then install it with sudo eopkg install linux-lts
Then sudo clr-boot-manager set-kernel XX
XX is the LTS listed before. Reboot.
Download Driver 390 series I believe from https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/unix/ You will likely need to make the file you downloaded executable. chmod u+x <file>
Shift+Alt+F2
then login, sudo telinit 3
(if that isn't work try /sbin/telinit 3
), and check that it is changed to level 3 with runlevel
that should output something like 5 3 which means that the current run level is 3 and before it was 5.
After that run the file previously downloaded ./file
reboot
