In recommending virtual machines to solve a number of problems, users are sometimes concerned that their hardware couldn't possibley support creating and using virtual machines. Or that the resulting VMs would run so poorly as to be useless. In another thread about DEs, I mentioned that I even use KDE Plasma on a little laptop that I bought for motorcycle touring. It's got 2 Celeron cores and 4 GB of ram, so it's certainly not a high-powered laptop.
While in that thread, I got really curious about whether I could actually run VirtualBox on it, so when I had nothing better to do, I installed VirtualBox 7 on it, and used it to build a Solus Budgie VM. Here's a screenshot of that VM:

I'm not claiming that the Budgie VM is fast, by any means, just confirming that it's possible. It's a UEFI machine, and it even hibernates nicely. Plus, it's fully updated, with 622 upgraded packages. Here are the little host machine's properties, from neofetch:

And for the Budgie VM I created on it:

If anyone reading this would like to get started creating VMs with VirtualBox, and has questions, just ask. It's a great way to explore other DEs and distros, and can be an excellent replacement for a dual-boot scheme. By the way, this message was created 100% on this little laptop. That includes creating and posting the screenshots.
