I installed mate on this lenovo ideapad 125 celeron 1g 2g mem 32ghd when solus came back online
Its been running great all updates done no issues and if I do have an issue its me. lol
Its just a surfing messing around laptop but it so nice to use it and not have to deal with other issues.
I havent thrown the kitchen sink at but thats not what its meant for.

Budgie on this machine was total disaster. (But that was before all the updates I just deleted it)
Nice to be able to give life back into something that should have never been sold like it was with windows.

Also the dell allinone doing great to It has atom cpu not sure which.
Just kind of the skinny of things I guess mostly posted for dev for input.
Since they are prob focused on budgie.

Axios Budgie on this machine was total disaster.

It would be interesting to see what Plasma does on that machine. Besides all our other computers here, I use KDE Plasma on my little Travelmate laptop with attribures quite similar similar to those of your Notepad. It's also a Celeron-powered device, but I've replaced its 32 GB drive with something a bit bigger. That wouldn't matter much, though.

According to my collection of Solus VM's, Plasma runs just fine in about half that much RAM -- about 16 GB. (Can't compare that with MATE, because I haven't been able to create a VM using MATE. Maybe after the new .ISOs are released?)

WetGeek I still dont have desktop with solus on it when new iso come out will be looking
at throwing it on one the dell i5 or i7 and giving it a go had gnome on one it was like budgie for me
but that was back when things were changing drastic with gnome.
Be a good candidate for plasma probably.
Just wonder if I ever learn anything from all the years this computer stuff..haha

I'd like to think I had to, too. I got rid of Solus on the desktop for the two months it couldn't get updates. I had Fedora Budgie instead on the WD Blue 500GB. And of course while Solus was dormant I had the WD Blue 320GB drive with Solus Replacement Applicants if it came to that. Windows I left alone the scuzzy-connected SSD.

Long story short, Axios, when updates began a couple weeks ago I went ahead an erased Fedora and put Budgie-Solus back on the Blue 500GB. I followed Ebon's Nemo-for-Nautilus advice in a long thread and never had any of those ugly Gnome/Nautilus issues again.---Maybe somethings were addressed in the last few updates regarding Gnome/Nautilus ugliness in Budgie?

Even shorter I'm trying to say is if you put Budgie back on the desktop that you purged it from (before Mate) then that might be good enough.

Good god I went thru every ailment imaginable with the Gnome/Nautilus nightmare last year....but since 1) I put updated Budgie back where it was and 2) swapped for Nemo, I've not any gnome issues.
I don't blame you for waiting for the ISO. And Mate is a dignified creature I enjoyed using( by necessity) last year and stable af, as the kids say.
I am delighted to be using Budgie hassle free again. I am really enjoying it better this time around and better than other implementations I tried.
You tried this, though recently and got bit again by Gnome in Budgie, right?

In case it helps with a decision, here's what I'm pretty sure is Nautilus on my Budgie VM. That machine has been fully updated as of this weekend, and it's rockin' Materia Dark, so I don't think anything's been fixed on Nautilus.

brent I did updates only to it before I trashed it so I am not saying the original install wasnt
messed up thats when I went to mate.
Am like you prob wait for iso do fresh install and have no problems no hurry on it for now
But I totally agree with what you said.
(I had countless Hours setting up budgie Oh well)
You know it always takes that little issue and the right mood to hit the wipe key..rofl
But the new iso will use nemo right?

WetGeek if you've had no theming issues or otherwise than maybe no fixing for nautilus, you are probably correct. but maybe there were gnome fixes since we've been up. to be honest with you I don't really check on devtracker like I used to so I'm in the dark on that stuff since we've been up. going with the flow🙂
