Better Matrix client than Konversation

Hello everyone !
well, i took time to do some test today and noticed that konversation we use for/to connect to matrix and chat with teams is a bit of outdated style app, i mean visually it is not praticable like a modern chat app.
So i installed Neochat from repos and SchildiChat from flathub and the visual differences and approaches are of great charm.
I mean the difference is so noticeable i'd say Solus should consider to ditch konversation and go with a more modern matrix client (still have to test recent release of element.io)

I've never accessed Matrix, and I've been searching for a way to obtain a "Matrix ID" such as required by Neochat. No luck so far. Where can we go to get one of those?

I assume that's just a first step, but we'll be able to access the Solus account once we're connected to a Matrix server, no?

Here, Element !
Even though it is not the kind of Ui i love but it does the thing and element is available on phones and tablet when all others aren't available.
So, maybe Element should be picked as default Matrix Client for Solus (next)

There isn't even a "default" Matrix client for Solus (yet?). Konversation/Hexchat/etc. are just leftovers from the IRC days (which weren't that long ago).
Personally I just use Element, some KDE/Qt people seem to like "nheko", and "cinny" also seems to be a good alternative (the latter is not in the repo yet).

Staudey then elemen should become the default, it works well on both GTK and Qt
neochat is cool but make things a bit more complicated and konversation is just "old style" thing
one client to rule them all, Element can be the thing here, instead of having to build with differents stuffs for each iso, you can go a unique matrix client for both GTK/Qt and unify people under the same banner so have similar experience and it will make it easy for you when building ISO or maintaining stuffs

nheko is in the repos and is pretty decent. That's what I use.

I installed Element at the endorsement of J. Strobl, who rec'd it to Solus users on solus/reddit before the Solus forum came back up.
but unclemez they all look (your pictures) way too busy for my dumb a** including Element. Konversation might be my speed🙂...I mean for what it's supposed to do I would be content with ASCII output for a glorified IM 😉

UPDATE: I installed Element yesterday, and it offered me a way to create a Matrix account, unlike Neochat. The last step of the process was to answer a confirming email, which would finalize the account creation process. When I hadn't received that email for quite a while, I clicked the "resend email" link. Altogether, I did that four times.

By today, I still haven't received the confirming email, so I'm still without a Matrix account. I'm beginning to believe it may just be destiny.

I actually was asked for this email, and I didn't received it. I have been just using Element with the different groups without any confirmation, and it works. Maybe, just try to use it like this.

Thanks for the suggestions ... I'll give that a try. Apparently they changed their requirement, but didn't change the text saying that there was one.

did you see if you have one of the auto login options like Google or Facebook account ? i just use my google account credentials and it works fine.
