I kind mixed up both of your advices. I did a new install. I am not using my trusty password browser extension. I downloaded old school Keepass (not XC) and loaded up a .kbdx of my info....so now when I see a login field, I can copy login&pass right from Keepass and cut and paste.
Going to try that for a while. thanks for the tip.
