  • What does the word 'Solus' mean for this distro?

I have not found a good definition for that word.

See "What's in a Name?" for the origin of the Solus name as the name applies to the Solus distro.

The Solus name itself seems to have come from Old Irish, meaning "bright, clear, light".

The logo depicts a Galway Hooker fishing boat, and Ikey Doherty said in an interview that the logo is intended to convey "new horizons, open sails".

To add to what @tomscharbach answered about the name. I came across Ikey's answer to that question last week in one of the Matrix rooms.

Solus has a dual meaning

In old Irish it means light, and in Latin it means alone
Original connotation was a ferrylight to guide users on a journey

But a more direct interpretation is a beacon of light, out on its own
The ferryman connotation is a bit macabre for current tastes 🙂

"The ferryman connotation is a bit macabre for current tastes" - ha ha ha, good one!!
I like whatever language the word Solus derives from:
Latin = alone could equal Irish = light as in "not a bunch of heavyweights but just me on my own"...
