I installed wxmaxima (the gui frontend for cli maxima) from the Solus Budgie package manager. When wxmaxima starts, it says that it is unable to start maxima. Trying maxima from the terminal command line, I get:
fatal error encountered in SBCL pid 32316 tid 32316:
core was built for runtime "paddedroom-root-2021-06-15-20-56-57" but this is "paddedroom-root-2022-03-28-15-24-40"
and it dumps me be back to the terminal command line.
maxima (for computer algebra) is written in lisp and it needs sbcl to do the lisp part. I have no idea what paddedroom-root is, or core, but evidently "core" is different for sbcl than whatever reports this incompatibility. Maybe something to do with the packaging, since maxima does work OK on every other disto I have, like Ubuntu, Fedora, opensuse Leap, arcolinux. There is nothing I can do about the incompatibility as far as I can tell, except report it.
BTW, Solus Budgie is the coolest distro I have ever seen, so this is a bit disappointing. TIA.
