So... I made this thread asking why Solus doesn't have new ISOs.
Why don't we have newer ISOs for Solus?

RAinb0wStAr9938 team is working on it. New .iso will be released when it's ready, and no they don't give ETAs.
Edit: not trying to be rude, just stating what's known and been said on the forums many times before.

@RAinb0wStAr9938 Brucehankins Actually, in this case there is a checklist and some kind of ETA
Staudey End of Q1 for general release, then, with limited earlier release to Open Collective backers, presumably for testing before general release. Glad to see that Budgie will be moving to Nemo.
tomscharbach Glad to see that Budgie will be moving to Nemo.
I love my Mate but if Nemo's inclusion fixes the limited (for me) budgie experience I will be back to budgie fast. stoked and stoked. stoked sqaured if you will.
brent why wait? Nemo should be available in the next sync so you can switch back to Budgie then. I think @EbonJaeger is working on a guide for getting existing installations switched over.

Speaking of the next sync ... How's that going? Usually when I get up on Saturday, it's been done already. When it hasn't, there's usually a post saying that it has been postponed. Neither has happened this week.
Should we continue to expect a sync this week, or change our expectations? Thanks!
WetGeek we had some issues with ICU rebuilds that delayed us a bit. It may or may not get delayed an extra day or two, I was hoping to get kernel 6.1.2 in but it was delayed upstream until Sunday.

Thanks. Good to know a huge delay isn't expected. Maybe it will be the first sync in 2023?

@EbonJaeger Regarding "Ensure that Nemo gets added to the base install", is the plan that Nemo will replace Nautilus as the installed default file manager in the 4.4 ISO, so that a clean 4.4 installation from the ISO would install Nemo instead of Nautilus?
tomscharbach yes, that is correct.
EbonJaeger Since Nemo is the repo now ( thanks for the change of heart on that respect ) .. whats the update path for current installs?
I saw in https://dev.getsol.us/R4536:49918d1770b80665467867888d639f03fc28cd16 a few things changed from the default config and i assume we have to do those changes ourselfs.
Other then that .. just install Nemo, uninstall Nautilus and done ?

TerohsLab As long as budgie-deskop-branding-fortitude-plus
is installed, you'll have those detaults set automatically.
If you're only using Nemo as a file manager, then yeah, it's unpin Nautilus from the taskbar, pin Nemo, and optionally uninstall Nautilus.
If you want to use Nemo for desktop icons, I posted a guide here.
EbonJaeger I'm switching to Nemo once the sync lands, because "Drag and Drop" not working from zipped files is just .. beyond infuriating.
But i dont have Nemo installed yet.
Assuming once sync happens, Nemo gets auto installed and i just remove Nautilus.
Thank you !
TerohsLab Nemo will not get autoinstalled by updating. There isn't a way for us to do that without making it a dependency of something, meaning you couldn't uninstall it later if you wanted.
I plan to switch to Solus when the new 4.4 ISO officially releases in Q1 2023.

If you are planning to use Budgie, it makes sense to install clean from the 4.4 ISO rather than install 4.3 and switch file managers.
tomscharbach agree completely. I am waiting for that new iso to switch back. seems like 'best practices' with a new integrated file manager anyway then the mid-stream switcheroo.
I mean... If you're only using the file manager and not desktop icons all you have to do is install Nemo lol. There's nothing special about it.
