Is the third party repo down?

Hi,

My hard drive crashed yesterday and Installed Solus on an external SSD and running from the external SSD. I am still in the process of setting up my Solus Mate desktop. As part of the setup, I am trying to install Insync from third party repos and I am getting the below errors.

It downloads and makes an eopkg package for me.

I am getting this timed out error. Is there a way to manually install it? I can't open the URL in browser also

It's weird because everything works for me. The page opens with the contents of the xml file. Try opening it in a different browser and are you sure you have internet access? ping google.com -c 10

Regarding your question on IRC, there is a retry-attempts setting for eopkg (you can use it from the command line):

-R [--retry-attempts] arg : Set the max number of retry attempts in case of connection timeouts

The default is 5. Not sure if one can also set the timeout without modifying the code directly.

In general it sounds a lot like the issues people had with proxies from time to time, but you mentioned on IRC you aren't behind one, right?

Staudey No, I am not behind a proxy. It is a fresh install of Solus. The only difference this time is I am running Solus from an external SSD, not from internal hard drive.

2 cents of stuff since you frantically moved from a dead machine to an alive machine:
is systemresolve service enabled (systemctl status systemd-resolved)? if not: sudo systemctl restart systemd-resolved
flush cache? sudo systemd-resolve --flush-caches
try a simple reboot of the ssd since you installed it?
I'm thinking clogged pipes or dead service along those lines.

systemd-resolvd service was down and I started it and also ran the command with --flush-caches. But, still no luck. I have rebooted my machine with the SSD several times.

I tried to open the pspec.xml file from a windows laptop and it did not work either. It appears that the URL is blocked by my ISP. I have then connected to VPN on my browser and I was able to download the pspec.xml from the githubusercontent.com.

I ran the below command and it failed with the error message as shown:

sudo eopkg bi --ignore-safety pspec.xml

Unable to read Actions Script (/home/balashaki/actions.py): [Errno 2] No such file or directory: /home/balashaki/actions.py

Please use 'eopkg help' for general help.

I have downloaded the deb package from the link that was in the pspec.xml, but I hate to manually extract the archive and place the contents into respective /usr directory to make insync to work.

Any ideas?

pnbalaji1974 You also need the corresponding actions.py file that is part of the package setup. (and as it happens also an additional file). Basically everything in this folder:

Well, open some free VPN, for example ProtonVPN, and run the build package command in the terminal.

pnbalaji1974 My bad, I didn't explain properly. You need the "Raw" version of those files. (it seems from the error message like you've saved the html or something)
Click on them and then the "Raw" button to get those.

(so you still need the correct actions.py, then a folder called "files" and inside it the file "insync")
