my tack cloths are microfiber so in good company here.
Harvey isopropyl reacts good with these surfaces---that is fascinating---and I know you said for gunk only. But if you have gotten decades of mileage more power to you.
tomscharbach you and Harvey both dust first---I am too lax here---I have to remember dirt scratches if rubbed in. You use water to loosen gunk. Also interesting. Good to have that compressed air.
My vinegar/water, Bruce's glass concoction, the alcohol, and the water----technically all these are solvents---react positive with these surface especially in relation to smudges/gunk. As for the screen hardware industry, I have NO inkling of what materials/substrates/surfaces are used in flat screens in the last twenty years...
...at least for 4 users here, their method has passed the eye test because we use our screens everyday.
I do realize sandpaper and soda pop are likely not screen cleaners...but I think these devices are machined/designed in factory for soft cloth/moisture cleaning in general---solvents included. But probably not all solvents like ammonia/acetone/etc. The isopropyl a nice surprise.
At the end of the day there is perhaps only common sense?
