How to change default brightness on boot?

The screen brightness setting is not remembered between reboots. Is there a setting for this? Gnome desktop

Brightness controls are on the menus of your monitor.

I should have indicated this is a laptop.

Scenario:

mike-ward I am surprised keyboard functions have no effect on a laptop. Is there a firmware you can install perhaps?

The keyboard function changes the brightness. It's just not remembered after I reboot.

Increasing the brightness after every reboot is a very minor issue. Was hoping there was a quick fix.

Perhaps
xrandr --output [monitor-name] --brightness [brightness-level]
in some menus for automatic start.
(I use budgie)

I noodled around some more this morning and discovered the default brightness is an NVRAM setting in the Macbook Pro firmware.
