Solarmass I haven't tried GUI mode yet.

I just downloaded and unpacked ventoy-1.0.79-linux.tar.gz and in readme:

VentoyGUI is native GUI program for Linux (GTK/QT)

Just double-click the file (e.g. VentoyGUI.x86_64)

If it can not startup after double-click, you can open the terminal and just execute the file (e.g. ./VentoyGUI.x86_64)

Can confirm GUI works! 🎉

Solarmass, it's a remarkable piece of software. It can also run a local web server to give you access via your browser to manage plug-ins, custom config file for ISOs and such.

johano this ^^ really makes me wonder if Ventoy is perhaps something more than an ISO-hoarder? Maybe it could do a million things? All it is is a static, formatted program for USB meant to be a managed repository for clunky large files, making them easy to use...
...is Ventoy a one-trick-pony? Or is the ceiling not realized with Ventoy? I mean you will never get me to believe it was conceived, executed, and invented to store live isos only.
I have to consolidate a bunch of files soon of every stripe. I think I'm going to do some experimenting down the road with this in light of your info Johano.

brent, the plugins are just a bit extra, and just as you say its main thing is to manage file-system images.

VentoyPluson is the GUI for plugin management. Along the bottom left of this page, you can see the various plugins.

Some fairly obscure ones, probably the most useful to most, would be the Ventoy Persistence Plugin

This allows saving any changes you make to the live system, so that they are still present the next time you boot to it.
