I just got a new dcking station, (this model). Which I know on the site it says that it is not compatible with Linux/Unix, however, drivers for this model are made for Ubuntu, and there are forums that show this working with Ubuntu.
Trying to get the drivers set up, I run into an issue with DKMS. I cannot run the installation script due to this being missing. I know that how the kernel is set up with the rolling release it is not feasible for DKMS on Solus (Discussed in this thread)
Now there is information out there from Wavlink that states that you can port to other distributions; however, I'm at a loss for this - it seems to be lacking actual instructions other than how the packages file setup is arranged.
Now I might just not be advanced enough to see if I can make this work, (I don't know if compiling from source is an option, there is the evdi packages). I just don't want to have this dock become an expensive paperweight. Do you guys think that something is feasible to get display drivers working for this or is it a loss? At the very least it added 6 USB ports and a Gig ethernet, sad about the displays though :/
Thanks,
x
