Budgie DE - Distro Agnostic
brent you need a constitution of steel to sample budgie in every flavor.
It is probably an impossible task. I did look at a few last February (Debian, EndeavourOS, Gecko, openSUSE, Ubuntu Budgie, Ultramarine, and maybe one or two others) and found them lacking, for the most part. At the time, most were using an outdated non-Solus repository for Budgie, and it showed. After Budgie and Solus split, non-Solus Budgie implementations have access to the current BuddiesOfBudgie repository, and my guess is that most will move to the current Budgie implementation as the distros refresh.
brent Others (Tom I think) say it's really refined in Ubuntu but I don't know.
Ubuntu Budgie (which, as I understand it, contributes to BuddiesOfBudgie) cut over to the current Budgie repository with the release of UBB LTS 22.04, and did a excellent job of implementation. In my opinion, UBB's Budgie implementation is on par with Solus's Budgie implementation at this point. In fact, the "Traditional Budgie"** desktop layout in UBB is almost identical to Solus Budgie (UBB has added a bell and whistle or two that aren't present in Solus Budgie). The two are so close that I lose track of which I'm using.
I imagine that all Budgie implementations will catch up in time, now that BuddiesOfBudgie rather than Solus controls the Budgie repository.
================
**Ubuntu Budgie defaults to a Win11-ish desktop layout, and offers another half-dozen or so layouts, most of which use a centered motif, but the only one I've used extensively is the "Traditional Budgie" layout so I can't speak to the quality of the others.
