Hydrogen isn't a fuel for cars because the quantity of low carbon hydrogen that can be produced is and will always be too limited to address all the needs so it should be used in priority in domains that don't have real alternatives. It could be to produce ammonia (for fertilizers), for trucks (because electric trucks wouldn't be able to make long distance and the weight of batteries would limit the amount of products that could be carried), in aeronautics, for the production of steel or concrete, as backup for the renewable electricity, etc.).
It is very important to have a systemic approach, some innovations might be very good but may hit the wall because they rely on a resource that won't be available enough.
