Calibre plus Drm removal and kfx

After a couple days I finally found a workaround that did not require you to use wine or adobe digital editions. (if you bought a kindle from Amazon or are able to get it's serial code.)
First remove newest version of calibre that uses python 3, then go to https://download.calibre-ebook.com/4.html and download an earlier version. I choose 4.10.
For the DRM plug in go to https://github.com/apprenticeharper/DeDRM_tools/releases and choose an early release I used the oldest I could find (v6.6)
For the kfx plugins you can just search for those and download the ones available for input and output.
This will finally allow you to remove the DRM from ebooks

Any reason for relying on outdated version of Calibre & the DeDRM plug-in rather than trying a recent version with Calibre 5.x (version from the repository) ?

The DRM plugin does not work in Linux without going through "extra" steps like installing wine, getting adobe digital editions, and installing wine prefixes.
Since the newest calibre uses python 3 instead of the older python 3 the DRM plugin does not play well within Linux.
That is why for the removal you use the older version. Once the DRM is removed, you can just change the format and then start using the newest calibre
