Hello,

If screen locked while non-english keyboard layout is on then it can not be unlocked because layout can not be switched to EN to type password.

There are used to be a keyboard layout switcher on lockscreen window.

What keyboard layout was that? What language and writing system?
What I'm going to propose is a workaround, not a solution, but it might work. Look on another computer on the internet for a layout of that language, and use it as a guide to enter your password.

Thanks for adding that. I don't personally use Budgie, nor do I use any language except English, so I probably won't be able to help much. But those who CAN help you will want to know that you're using Budgie.

@gray380 Did you find the solution yet? I think if you are on the lockscreen, you can try switch user which will bring you to login screen. There, you can find the keyboard layout switcher on top right of your screen. Maybe this will help.

alfisya yes, I've tried to switch user but it returns to the locked screen 🙂

alfisya After switching several times, another user logs in, but all open programs are closed. Like when I restart.For me, the language is Bulgarian, and the arrangement is traditional phonetic.

joluveba the password has been created under 'us' keyboard layout.
The working keyboard layout is 'uk' (Ukrainian).
When screen locks there no possibility to switch the layout so typed password is mismatched .

valst don't login to another user account, what i mean by clicking switch user it brings you to the login screen (lightdm). There you can find the accessibilty options on the top right.

I know this is an old thread, but did you try creating a new password with the non-english layout enabled? That way you would not have to switch to english on the lock screen.

A workaround is to make sure that the layout is in 'us' before locking the screen 😉

alfisya I did not login to another user, and yes, there (in the 'switch user') I can choose the layout, but session backs to the locked screen with let say 'wrong' layout.

Anyone interested in moving to Fedors should take a look at Ultramarine Linux. It's based on Fedora, but much improved. If Solus didn't exist, I'd be using it, too.

WetGeek I tried Ultramarine, but I like Solus better and it does a great job for me. And Fedora is my previous distribution, I've been with it for a long time and I have sentiments. 🙂 If I understood more I would do this with the keyboard layout, but I don't understand.

gray380 Yes, Manjaro is really easy to use and has a rich repository, which is not very good for more modest users like me. Pop OS! I have not tested it in a similar way, I read that it is recommended and praised. But for now, Solus is my distribution.

Agree. Solus is on 7 computers here. I like to expllore other distros by installing them on virttual machines, and I've done that with Ultramarine. Its UI is Budgie, which was developed by the Solus team, so it's very familiar and easy to work with.
