Firefox doesn't play videos

Hi,
I am on unstable all updated and Firefox doesn't play any video if media.ffmpeg.vaapi.enabled is enabled.

Any help please.

Does your GPU support VP9 decoding?
If you're not sure, show the output of vainfo command (can be installed with sudo eopkg it libva-utils).

Does enabling/disabling media.ffvpx.enabled make any difference?

It was enabled, changed it to disabled and did nothing.

Try launching firefox with MOZ_LOG="PlatformDecoderModule:5" firefox, the output is quite spammy, see if you notice anything

Also make sure that DMABUF is enabled from about:support

Yeah it's enabled. Did you notice any errors when playing a youtube video with logging enabled? Also, it is just youtube that doesn't work? Did you try something like twitch.tv for example (or any other video playing sites).

No errors but I don't know how to play with logging enabled. I can try if you show me how. Just the window becomes a little bit unresponsive if I leave it a long time and its happening in all websites not only Youtube. Twitch, Twiter, TikTok, Facebook all videos in any site.

What I mean is just attempt to play a youtube video like normal with logging enabled in the background and post what the log outputs here. (please don't post it directly use pastebin or something like that)

andiskufi He means launching Firefox from the terminal with the command posted above: MOZ_LOG="PlatformDecoderModule:5" firefox
and then looking at the output while watching a video (or trying to watch it ^^)

I've got this issue also on Budgie but not on Plasma (?).

So I restored all my config to default and solved this issue, that means:

gfx webrender all to false
media ffmpeg vaapi to false
media ffvpx to true
media hardware video decoding force enabled to false
gfx x11 force enabled to false

Curiously, firefox is still fast, a bit less than before only, but that's ok, youtube works.
I'll wait next Solus big sync to purge FF and re-import favs & addons & settings to start again clean.

You went to far I beleive. By just disabling media.ffmpeg.vaapi.enabled does the trick and everything is working.
Waiting for Mozilla to fix the issue.

So, as planned, I reset FF completely after the last sync, by deleting the .mozilla folder in home and the cache folder. To my great surprise, FF remains OTB light, without having modified anything in about:config, its performances are excellent, as much as before with the modified config (vaapi, webrender_all, x11....), I can see in about:support that almost everything is available by default for me.
Finally, less is more (?).
