Photos will only run one time unless you reboot then it will run again but if you close it and try to start again it doesnt work.
Has this error

Does it on all 3 machines 1 gnome 2 budgie machines

"photos" in applications does not launch for me. I don't know the package name.

I can open photes with something called "gnome image viewer" but I can't find the real name in eopkg info to run in the terminal:

MORE BIZZARE is eopkg info eye-of-gnome eye-of-gnome package is not installedfollowed by software center telling me Eye of Gnome is installed:

so "photos" in the applications menu has no real true hyphenated name I can find to glean info on. too many photo chiefs on my end. how did you run "photos" in terminal? what's it's real name?

Just for the heck of it, did you try eopkg sr photos? That says it's gnome-photos. I installed it, but couldn't run it. Maybe you'll have better luck with it.

EDIT: I'm on Plasma, so the installation amounted to 22 packages. Maybe it will do better on Budgie.

WetGeek I need to be in the habit of sr because info has been a bust for me lately so thanks for that.
so gnome-photos is probably image viewer? or eye of gnome?

Yes I just uninstalled it and I could never get it to launch from terminal myself I tried photos and gnome-photos
(I just discovered it runs from terminal using sdu gnome-photos but it throws errors and its not proper start up could not get it to run by just using gnome-photos in terminal but it did run everytime from terminal

Logged out back in ran it from gnome menu ran closed it tried to run it again it wont run second time.
same on budgie to. (Dunno weird)

can also confirm sudo gnome-photos launches

but don't know what that stuff means.

also it will launch sudo but not launch from menu. have no idea what that means.
and apparently my default picture opener, image Viewer, seems to have nothing to do with this app. I think.
which leaves the mystery of Eye of Gnome for me but hey, I wont lose sleep🙂

I liked the simple (browse mode) photos had was easy when moving and organizing
could not find replacement I was happy with so moved my photo stuff back to win7
It was a gnome machine gnome app go figure!

There are many cool picture browsers. For example: geeqie, shotwell, feh and many others. More extensive under plasma: digikam, gwenview. Anyway, see only you have to translate
