Theme gone bad

installed a theme crashed linux with oops screen
Tried rebooting into ctrl+alt+f2 or ctrl+alt+f1 so I could delete icon theme but cant get to tty
Any ideas?

Axios Please give us more information. What theme did you install, where did you find it and did you install it?

do you tried ctrl+alt+f1 wen you are in the "oops screen"?

try ctrl+alt+ALL OF THEM
or F-All of Them for boot order when booting.
Had this oops screen a time or 3 or 4.. It goes 3 ways:

1) can salvage via terminal easily---I have saved some commands to restore after oops if tty available
2) can't get terminal---fubard---reinstall
3) install live usb and reserve 6 hours🙂
2 and 3 are a bummer. reboot or shut down for a while and try more F-combinations. TTY is in sight hopefully

it was a win10 icon theme...lol dont remb where I found it cause its on the computer thats fubar
It boots and I can see the main desktop screen but then it flashes and goes to the oops screen.
And I try log in from oops screen and same thing happens.

Axios Then launch a tty session Ctrl + Alt + F3, for example. Log in and then run this command:
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface icon-theme "Papirus"
This will set your icon theme to Papirus,

Then run sudo systemctl restart lightdm. This will restart you desktop session and then you can log in normaly.

As last step, delete that broken icon theme, which it could be located in ~/.icons or ~/.local/share/icons

Man I got a brain fart didnt use computer all day and it crashed oops screen
What happen things just started not opening and a rebooted and it went to oops crash screen.
Kinda acts like theme issue but not sure.

Ok did a icon-theme reset,checked packages,but I dont know command to reset to default theme?
Havent done updates yet.
Or another command is needed? am using gnome.

Also tried find the right command to start gnome desktop from terminal Was wanting to start it into another
user see if it loads desktop ok those are still set to default.
