VLC stutters/framedrops on HD/4K videos on Solus (but not Windows)

Hi all, have been lurking in the forums for a while.. first of all, thank u to the Solus developers and maintainers - I'm using Solus as my primary OS. Had tried Debian and Fedora before so am surprised Solus exceeds my expectations of a stable daily driver.

I am having some challenges however with VLC. The videos stutters/framedrops on HD/4K on Solus (but not Windows, my dual boot Windows plays it perfectly fine). Having the same problem with Firefox (though I understand it could be due to Firefox 97).

I am using an Asus UX433 with inbuilt Intel UHD Graphics 620.

Does anyone have the same problem or have a solution to this?

Hi pomon, thanks for sharing. I have tried unfortunately none of the changes seem to have improved the playback.

install libva-utils and then in terminal run vainfo then post output
this isnt a driver just info also make sure the libva-intel-driver is installed I am sure it prob is but does not hurt to check.
Intel Linux Gpu support lags behind windows alot this problem isnt uncommon its just the video is using the cpu (u can watch cpu usage during playback and see if its the case) mostly rather than the gpu Sorry but not sure there is much of a fix try everything with hardware acc turned off
