Axios who ever heard of 32g drive for win10 sheesh

That's what was in my little Acer Travelmate laptop when I bought it (for touring in a motorcycle side-bag). It was enough to run Windows 10, but not nearly enough to update it. It had an internal space for a 2.5" drive, though, complete with SATA connection. I gave it a 500GB SSD and installed Budgie on it, aftr I figured out all the BIOS complications that were needed to free it from the grasp of Windows.

I agree with everyone else: either get a larger ssd, or, upgrade to Solus. <grin> The last time I looked, Windows 10 could still be downloaded from the Microsoft website, placed on a USB, installed, and then registered.

Seriously, for customers I recommend rolling back to Windows 8.1/7, or calling someone else to service their computers. Everyone has personal preferences, and one of my own personal preferences is to avoid the irrational, unorganized, and mentally damaging 3 (or more) control panels in Windows 10. In my very personal and grumpy opinion, I could rant for hours about Windows 10. <lol>

But yeah, my vote is to upgrade to Solus: all problems solved.

Windows 10 installation media (MediaCreationTool21H2.exe) can be downloaded from Microsoft's "Download Windows 10" and used to create a Windows 10 installation USB. The Windows 10 "Media Creation Tool" requires Windows. That's the simplest and most straightforward method but requires a Windows computer.

If you do not have a Windows computer (yours or one you can borrow for an hour to create the USB), you can download the ISO directly from the "Download Windows 10 Disc Image (ISO File)" page, and use a Linux app to create a bootable Windows 10 USB. The process is more complicated but not all that difficult.

Be patient with both sites -- for some reason it takes forever to open the page. Just let it spin for a few minutes and it will open.

In either case, Windows 10 will authenticate if the computer has had a legitimate, licensed instance of Windows 7/8/10 installed at any point in the computer's history -- in short, if the computer is an OEM build that came with Windows, Windows 10 will automatically authenticate upon installation.

@Axios I notice that your 32GB Lenovo is an IdeaPad. My guess is that the only available drive in the computer is an eMMc assembly, which is what I have on the 3180. You probably won't be able to upgrade to a larger SSD unless the IdeaPad has a separate 2.5" SSD bay available. @WetGeek's did, mine doesn't, yours might.

Its history erased drive..lol it had winre on it anyways after digging around on recovery partition.

It will prob turn into a linux testing laptop.....Installing budgie now.

I did learn for some reason acronis true image wouldnt restore the boot..hmmm got think on that one

I think either/or is a common configuration in budget laptops. I have two Dell Inspiron 3180's -- one with an AMD A6 and a 32 GB eMMc drive, the other with an AMD A9 and a 128GB 2.5" SSD. Both have room for an internal 2.5" bay, but the 32 GB doesn't have the connectors or other stuff needed to install an SSD, while the 128 GB does, of course. As Dell's Service Manual for the 3180 puts it, "The computer is shipped with either hard-drive assembly or eMMC card assembly depending on the configuration ordered."

Nothing wrong with that ... I got the A6 as a Best Buy special for $129 for use as a "throw away" computer I can use in the museum's locomotive shop. I bought two, actually, and that turned out to be a good thing because one died after getting sprayed from a hydraulic leak from 30 feet away.

Installed no cam no big deal (never use it anyways) Everything else works great
Cant do any updates because of those issues wont even connect.
Runs good .
