krafairus If is not clear to me whether the problem is (1) Solus did not successfully update after installation, or (2) Solus did successfully update after installation, but the update is causing screen/display issues.
UPDATE NOT SUCCESSFUL
If the problem is that Solus did not successfully update after installation, then try either/both solutions, both of which are from the post referenced above (on my computer, the post moves around, so it might not be the first post on the forum):
(A) Scripted Terminal Update (Sotus Team recommended). Update through the terminal (not the Software Center) using this command:
sh -c 'sudo eopkg up -y';do echo 'Trying again ...';done
The script will start the update process, and restart the process if the process fails. You will see error messages, but the process will restart each time it fails, so be patient and wait until the process is completed. Eventually, the update process will be successful, verifying, extracting and installing files until you are fully updated
(B) Manual Terminal Update: If you have any problems with the scripted terminal method or if you would prefer to do the update manually, you can update through the terminal (not the Software Center) as follows:
(1) Open the terminal.
(2) Run command sudo eopkg up. This will start the update process.
(3) The process will start to download updates. At some point, the download process will fail. You will probably get a message something like: "Operation too slow. Less than 1000 bytes/sec transferred the last 120 seconds."
(4) When the process fails, run sudo eopkg up again. The download process will pick up where it left off and download more files before it fails again.
(5) Keep repeating Step (4) as many times as you need to in order to download all the files. Be patient. You might have to repeat Step (4) over and over again, but it will eventually download all the files.
(6) After all the files have downloaded, the update process will continue to completion without further action on your part, verifying, extracting and installing files, until you are fully updated.
In either case, restart your computer after the update process completes successfully, and see it the problem still occurs.
UPDATE SUCCESSFUL BUT ...
If you are certain that the update process was successful (either from the Software Center (success is reported by "Software is up to date") or, preferably, using the terminal update methods described above), but the problems you are experiencing continue, then we will have to look at other issues, such as graphics driver issues.
If we have to look beyond update installation, it would be helpful for you to provide us with this information: (1) the make/model of your computer, (2) the DE (Budgie, Gnome, Mate, Plasma) you are installing; and (3) the make/model of your graphics card.
