Solus and Geany install fine on different hard drives (160gb SATA2 and 1tb SATA3). Solus and all wanted software except Geany installs fine on solid state drives. When Geany is installed on a SSD, Solus boots into a blank screen. A full re-installation of Solus is required to bring back the desktop. Verified 4 times on a Samsung 850 Evo 500gb SSD (four installations), and one installation on a Mushkin Eco2 60gb SSD (MKNSSDEC60GB).
While in the blank screen I was able to login through crtl-F12 and got the error message:
Libffi.so6: cannot open shared object file No such file or directory
Failed to load module: /usr/lib64/gio/modules/libgiognutls.so
I do not know if this is a Geany glitch or a Solus glitch, but I figured it would be useful for everyone to be aware of it.
Solus version: 4.3 Fortitude 64b, X11 Windowing System, 41.1 Gnome version.
Hardware: BioStar AM1-MHP, AMD 5350 Athlon 2ghz APU, and 8gb RAM. (The hardware is purposefully chosen for its ability to be clocked at specific frequencies.)
Note: Solus runs great on the Evo SSD; program load times are generally a 4th to 5th of the load times on the new SATA3 HDD ( about 3 seconds to boot to login, and another 3-4 seconds to the full desktop). I have now been using Solus as my primary online pc for about six months, and I have not had any problems with any software other than Geany on an SSD. If I can get Geany to load on the Samsung SSD, I may place the installation on an MSI AM1m motherboard with 16gb RAM.
