I loaded Solus Budgie onto two laptops for family members. They have been running flawlessly for years. Recently, they have been forced to use a new wireless access point and that's where the trouble began ... and they both have the same issue. When going into the WiFi settings menu, the system scans and displays the available networks, but the cog icon that leads to the menu with the "Details / Identity / IPv4 / IPv6 / Security" tabs is missing.
On the first laptop every once in a while the cog would show up, but after a second, or two it would disappear again. Just by chance we were able to click it and configure the WiFi settings. So, problem solved.
After monitoring the second laptop for an extended period, we have yet to see the cog appear at all. Is there a back door method to launch this menu, or is the only option to configure WiFi in the terminal?
BTW - clicking on the desired access point opens a menu for the WiFi password, but since this is a WPA2/Enterprise config, we need to add a few more details than merely a password, in order to authenticate.
I've attached a screen shot from my own machine, indicating the cog icon that is giving us problems.
Thanks in advance!
Sorry, the forum errors out when I try to attach a screen shot. The pic is on Imgur:
