Hello,
I wanted to use screen sharing with my desktop (I run GNOME). I installed gnome-remote-desktop and enabled sharing in the settings. I tried both setting a password and having the user ask for permission in the server side settings (screen being shared).
When I connect with a client I am prompted with a password but then immediately get disconnected (server closes the connection).
When instead of a password I configure it to ask for permission, connecting with a client pops up a prompt to Accept/Refuse the connection and if I accept then immediately I get disconnected again.
It's like the negotiation for authenticating succeeds, but then when actually starting the session the server drops the connection.
In the log I found these suspicious tidbits:
Nov 25 08:58:56 ironyman gnome-remote-de[6484]: Didn't initialize RDP server: not configured
Nov 25 08:58:56 ironyman gnome-remote-de[6484]: Initialized VNC server
...
...
Nov 25 08:59:10 ironyman gnome-remote-de[6484]: Failed to start session: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.Failed: Failed to start remote desktop: Couldn't connect pipewire context
The connection attempt is at 08:59:10 and this line is repeated on every failure to log in.
Further to this: is there any way to enable RDP as perhaps that will work? I noticed in the log:
Nov 25 08:58:56 ironyman gnome-remote-de[6484]: Didn't initialize RDP server: not configured
Do I need to install something extra to get this working?
