I thought i'd share my experience in case someone is looking for a new cpu.
Installing the Solus 3.1 image worked great and it even booted live from the integrated gpu. The only issue was that the integrated network (I225-V 2.5Gbps LAN) didn't work. I used usb wifi tethering with my phone and updated the system that way. I've been using the system crash free since Monday, and today i jumped the gun and installed kernel 5.15.1, and now the Lan works too.
Overall the process has been easier than i expected. Bear in mind that it's lagging behind windows 11 performance in benchmarks and will probably do so for a while.

CPU: 12700k
gpu: Nvidia 1060 😅
