Oh man, my inexperience (and general disliking) with wireless was shining through! I totally forgot about the fact that wireless controls come with their own transmitters that are independent of the host machine (to a large extent, at least)! So, one less thing I have to be concerned about! On a similar note, that totally removes the concern about transmitting when not wanted, etc. π

I just went with a new HP wireless keyboard. I've never had a terrible experience with HP, so... I did not go for a pricey option, just one of these:

...I suspect it will work just fine. If it doesn't, it won't be a terrible loss.
In regards to Kodi, I will certainly keep that in mind. I've always been for personal computing, so the "entertainment center" environment is a bit alien. I expect that most of the time, the machine will be operated through a browser to access Amazon Prime. We'll just have to see. π
I imagine the more interesting thing will be to see what the ideal solution will be with regards to passwords, what causes the machine to go to sleep, etc. Ship date for the computer is estimated to be early December.
