Hello again, Friends!
I have a project coming up, and I'd appreciate some advice on how to make it work the best way it can.
...I've bought a new HP ProDesk 405 as a family home entertainment center, or something like that. It's going to take a while for it to be built and shipped. That said, now I have some planning to do in order to get it up and running as quickly as possible once it arrives.
As an added note, forgive me if my questions here have already been addressed - I'm just not sure of what to look for yet.
The idea is that the computer (which is a really tiny thing...) will fit on a shelf in the TV cabinet. It thus needs to respond to wireless input all the time. However, I'm not sure wireless should always be running like that. When Solus goes to sleep, will pressing a key on the wireless keyboard wake it up, etc? OR, will walking over to the machine and pressing the power button always be a requirement?
...An even more interesting thought: can turning on the television, which will be connected to the computer through HDMI, serve to wake the machine up, and therefore get everything "talking to each other?" Not sure if that's generally possible at this time - it's definitely outside of my expertise! But in doing this, perhaps only when the "channel" - or whatever that equivalent might be for the computer - is engaged, the computer will be "awake", and otherwise it will be dormant / not transmitting, etc. And then if the media player is active, also by command of remote, the computer will go back to dormancy, as it's not in use. Etc., etc.
In any sense, if anyone has some advice they're willing to pass my way in regards to this project, I'd appreciate it. I don't expect to have any issues installing Solus, of course (all the guts are AMD, really). I just want to make sure that the machine can be used and enjoyed hassle-free when it gets here.
