Hi again đ
after checking out the behaviour of Windows10 for a week or so, I found the time to test everything on Manjaro (Xfce) and openSUSE (Xfce). Same CPU issues as mentioned above with Manjaro. OpenSuse handled a single YT video much better with a CPU usage between 15-30%. It is the second best after Windows10.
Now, I played around with Solus again and found out the following. The (newly added?) build in power options, where you can select minimum, balanced and max power usage, gave me interesting results. Setting it to balance still gave me 50-60% CPU usage, playing a single YT video. Setting it to max or high (cant tell, because I use Solus in German), dropped the usage to around 20/25% when loading/buffering and around 10% when playing only. What a difference. Even Freetube uses much more CPU at that point. Btw, sudo eopkg check
gave no results.
In a nutshell, I need to give the x270 full juice basically, so it is comparible to out-of-the-box Windows10. If I select balanced mode, CPU usage goes up, some stuttering/freezing of the display occurs. That is mostly gone with hight power settings.
One ting is still left, that screen glitching. Mostly it is gone but sometimes (when I interact with the Solus bar) I can make it go crazy. I uploaded a video to imgur below that I have recorded. Still not shure why this is happening.
I am very glad to have found the "issue" with CPU usage but I am still curious why I do get that flickering sometimes (or if I want to?). Did not have that issue with Windows10.
