Would like to continue that topic with some issues of mine.
Quick background: I was running Solus on my Lenovo E480 (i5-8250U) until my screen fried and shorted out my mainboard too. Now I got a X270 (i5-7300U) for a good price. I realize its is now 2c/4t instead 4c/8t with the E480 but here is my main issue I have.
RAM usage is excellent with Solus Budgie 4.3 but CPU usage is strangly high. Running ONLY Firefox and ONLY one tab with a YT video playing, my CPU usage with Solus is at 50% and above. Nothing else is running. Doing the same in Win10 gives me a CPU usage of around 10-12% and spikes very shortly to 19% max, if I open the video control overlay.
Additionally, I ran TLP for battery savings. It resulted in a mess, stuttering video playback. Even my cursor froze here and there.
Using Solus, e.g. settings, nautilus (but no Firefox) makes my laptop freez from time to time.
Whats new, the laptop came with a Samsung NVME drive. Could that be the issue, that Solus is lacking some NVME driver issue of some sort? I really dont think thats the case but you never know.
The aforementioned issues are gone under Win10. Even Bios is the latest.
My hardware: i5-7300U (IntelHD620), 1x8GB 2133MHz DDR4 (only one module is supported), 256GB Samsung PM961 MZVLW256HEHP, 1080p IPS display
Any first ideas? đ
EDIT: For some reason Win10 CPU usage, playing a YT video, is up to 50-60% now too. That makes me wonder, why it hang around 12-19% earlier. đ
