I am looking for Epiphany in the Software Centre, but I cannot find. Is it gone?

brent yeah flatpak is available and it is updated often.

@evert looks like flatpak is your only option 🙁

FYI: missed it so much I went and got it from flatpak. This browser seems to have less customization and lacks the looks, rendering, and elegance of the Solus-curated version. It's hard to describe. I'm not prone to hallucination, but I believe the deprecated solus package and flatpak package are noticeably different.
(If this belief turns out to be factually untrue then I'll really eat my hat..)

brent epiphany is so minimal that it cannot be called a 'privacy respecting browser'. When i first tried it on Solus in Early April(it was in the repos at that time), i liked the minimalism but it does not provide flexibility.....like you cannot customize its looks, you cannot add extensions etc. It, however includes a whopping 3rd party ad blocker, 'a privacy respecting google safe browsing' feature and webkit's standard tracker blocker.

i think you might find the following interesting:

the author of the above article says that gnome devs arent aware of eyeo's bad intentions. very true.

evert @brent [deleted] The only "strange" thing is that, thru Flatpak, Epiphany got the default theme of GNOME, no matter the one you use. But it works yes.

[deleted] good info, thanks, but I know its light-light. Adblock and google safe search can be disabled in settings....leaving you unprotected. I really don't think the Flatpak is a daily driver like the Solus edition. Appreciate this extra info. Deal breaker for sure.
DansLeRuSH Theming awful now. Plus a couple more differences from solus repo version but it must be an updated version--been 6 months since I last used if fulltime. Thanks for the info.

As an alternative to Gnome Web, I would suggest Eolie. https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/Eolie
But I do not know to which extent it packs non-libre technologies. As noted by the integration of the Adblock-plus code, and G Safe Browsing feature.
Still not available on the Solus repos however.
